But my legs. I won't show them in public. White is sexy when it's all over the body. My legs are white as in--- never sees the sun. Even my feet are darker than my legs.
Since we're in the exercise thread - any other cyclist here? I swear I just can't run - all I can think about the whole time is how much I friggin hate it and how much pain I'm in - but put me on a bike and I can go and go - it's the only way I can get cardio in. I've been doing weights with a trainer for a little over a year now - it's changed how I look but not my weight - bummer. Ironically enough my trainer was a successful body builder - he dropped dead - literally at 56 last month. Just goes to prove that being "fit" isn't everything.
I'm going to the gym tomorrow around 11 - want me to remind you that_girl??
I've been into recreational all natural bodybuilding for about five years and counting just lifting for health, not contests. I lost 75lbs before I was military trained and then developed die-hard motivation tactics for keeping in shape when you're dog tired.
When I worked with my W she lost close to 40lbs in one year and put on enough muscle to increase her cup a few sizes and get a banging booty And I can help you lose those 20lbs before August or sometime in late September if life happens and you get off course of a while. I'm also working with AllThePrettyHorses on the same goals and you can ask her about some of dietary tactics I've gor her trying out.
You don't have to join a gym if that's not your thing. I found a lot of cool tweaks you easily do at home without a lot of equipment and ZERO supplements. Just food, a vitamin, and water. I can reccomend a some equipment you and your hubby could use that would last you for the rest of your life for a couple hundred at most, or show you how to make your own old school equipment. You could even do it with gymnastics bodyweight exercises and lifting small pieces of furnature, or cleaning. ALL IN 15 TO 60 MINUTES A DAY!
I have to warn you that a good treadmill that won't wear out or fall to pieces can set you back about $1000 and last a few decades and these need repairs once in a while. But you don't have to do a lick of cardio to lose weight, in fact I know people at the gym who only walk a little every day and just eat right for their calorie expendature. But if you like the idea of walking for about an hour first thing in the morning and watching tv or playing video games, then go for it.
I have plenty of tips for dietary changes you haven't even heard of.... forget six meals a day, low fat anything, protein shakes, fad diets, and Special K, there are much easier tweaks you can do without starving yourself half to death and eating tree bark and rain forest berries. The only hard thing I reccomend here is throw away Cosmo, eat healthier foods 90% of the time, and then enjoy your cheesecake and bites of whatever hubbs is eating without feeling guilty.
It's not difficult at all and you can still enjoy your life without feeling shame for your body. And oh yeah, when you get stronger sex will be SOO MUCH BETTER!
Location: On a clear day, I can see Mt. Rainier ... but you can't count on the days to be clear here ...

I'm almost exactly the opposite. I was a runner in HS and college, and am broken down in the feet, knees, and hips - especially the feet. I can't run more than about 10 miles/week anymore without feet problems.
I've tried cycling, and the only thing I can think as I do it is that it's just not as vigorous a cardiovascular workout as running is. It's also much harder (nearly impossible) to do when travelling, and the equipment is much more susceptible to rain damage which is a bit of a concern where I live ...
So I run when I can. I cycle - especially on uphills - when I can't run, and I do some weight training. I also keep my pushups and situps up as a matter of pride ... I try to do as many as I could when I was military - I dream about doing that many, but I can't do that many anymore .
A number of my coworkers and I have concept 2 rowers. You can upload your results onto their site, storing them on a card. Once a year, we hold a competition where each of us establishes a goal. Most are weight loss. Mine is on total km rowed. If others agree to the goals, we each put in a hundred dollars (or more if we have a new team member who has more demanding weight loss goals), and the winners who meet their goals split it.
For men and women who primarily run, though, and avoid weight resistance, you can google aging and muscle loss (sarcopenia) and read about the recent studies in this area. One famous article was from a guy who ran marathons for years, but when the exercise physiologist tried to show him the effects of sarcopenia, he could barely perform some of the basic daily movements that a younger person could, and he was only in his 40's.
I've been trying to shift the little bit of weight around my middle for the last 4 years since birth. I used to be really thin (naturally) then put on 27kg in pregnancy. My arms and legs are fine, but the middle needs to lose a little bit and just TONE. I know I look fine to most people, for me it's harder to adjust because I'm not used to have any extra weight. I lose weight quickly if I don't eat much but who wants to do that not me I love food. My friend said to me only today 'Why do you want to tone up? Who have you got to impress? You're MARRIED.' Uh, hello. My husband still?! And perhaps I'd like to just feel good about myself?
I've cut out all chocolate (great timing with easter), take away, lat night snacks. I walk a lot, and have been doing toning exercises. NOTHING. That last little bit just sits there. Well I'm fresh out of ideas. I'll be watching this thread for any good tips and ideas. I'm up for trying anything.
