Re: Favorite Actor or Actress
Clint - Gran Torino was just incredible. He's what - 70 years old? Playing a "sensitive" tough guy? Writing, directing and starring?
And yet sadly - for actress - still going back to Jenna Jameson. Who also writes, directs and "acts"! Although I kind of hope by 70 she's retired...

The man is incredible. He has done it all acting wise, and few films he's been in have been duds.
That film was really powerful. I love small little semi-indie films like that.

I haven't seen Hereafter. Certainly looked like a stretch for him.

Re: Favorite Actor or Actress
Actor (Films): Hugh Jackman (The Prestige) & Michael Cain (hasn't been the lead recently but he is always casted (sp?) well.
Actor (Shows): Jonathan Rhys Meyers (awesome in The Tudors)
Actress (Film): Sandra Bullock, Rachel McAdams
Actress (Shows): Natalie Dormer (Maybe I'm just partial to The Tudors, but she played Anne Boleyn well).
If looking for something to watch check out The Tudors (on netflix and amazon prime). Although, there's a bit more nudity then necessary.

I had to go for a (mainly tv) actress
I LOVE Judi Dench (M in the bond movies, Aereon in
The Chronicles of Rid**** )
One actor that I always thought was terrific (though maybe it was just his character on Torchwood) is Burn Gorman.
Another one who bothers me yet I am always compelled by his roles is John C Reilly. Another under rated actor is Michael Rooker who always plays a great villain...
Actually I just looked up IMDB list of under rated actors, what a great list:
IMDb: The 300 Most Underrated Actors (Great Character Actors) - a list by aladdinsane85
and on for the actresses:

Richard Schiff is one I love - actually all of the West Wing actors are brilliant, there's moments in that show where there's no dialogue and they just invoke all these emotions with their facial expressions alone
