I know there may be some of you rolling your eyes, because I am such a metal purist that by nature I should hate everything that is NOT metal. Well, that is true, but I am curious about all of you here.

What ROCK AND ROLL bands/artists does everyone LOVE that you cannot stand? Like if this band came on the radio, you would race for the radio, knocking down lamps and stepping on your cat to shut the radio off. And if you have time, please explain WHY you hate these bands, artists. To make it easier, let us stick with the ROCK AND ROLL genre. NO POP CAUSE IT ALL SUCKS

Here is mine:

R.E.M. - I hate shiny happy people music, even though it seemed the lead singer wanted to kill himself

Guns and Roses - I like Mr. Brownstone, but the rest is ****e

Poison - awful, pop, dressed up as women AND metal. Hella-lame

Bob Dylan - His voice is one of the worst I have ever heard and he is so "deep" like a guru for dumb hippies.

The Grateful Dead - You would have to be stoned to enjoy this drivel and follow them around on tour. Wanna see a typical Grateful Dead fan? Check out the other thread about women with hairy armpits.

The Rolling Stones - To me, they sound like a garage band who need more practice. I do not get their popularity at all.

Def Leppard - I have hated this band since I heard the first song when I was in 9th grade and I still hate them.

Bruce Springsteen - Okay, this guy cannot sing, his songs are waaaay too long, and I cannot abide saxophones and any brass instruments in any song.

Billy Joel - Ah, the Piano Man, so wimpy you could play his stuff for mental patients to calm them down.

Any Genesis with Phil Collins as the singer - so geriatric and too many love songs.

ZZ-TOP - I adore OLD ZZ Top. Cheap Sunglasses, Fool for your Stockings, Tush, great stuff. And then they came out with the MTV friendly crap with songs like "She's Got Legs," "Sharp Dressed Man," I can't name anymore, I feel the vomit rising.

HONORABLE MENTION: I love Jethro Tull. My brother in law is one of of those people who will accept anything if it is FREE, even a ****e sandwich. He got free tickets to Jethro Tull and came home and complained that they used TOO MUCH FLUTE! I still crack up when I think of this.

Rush - Geddy Lee sounds like a whiny 12 year old girl.

Clapton bores me to tears.

Boston sounds far too perfect and manufactured to be considered real rock'n'roll.

And Nirvana made being a rock star totally uncool. Wear flannel and whine - even after you're a millionaire...??? WTF???

When I get into music, I also get into the musicians. I love to get to understand the meaning behind songs, the place they were when they wrote it, etc.

I'm not a diehard for any one group (besides my Beatles ), I just love certain songs from many groups because of what they mean to me and whatnot.

I will say, that I never understood Red Hot Chili Peppers. I get physically ill when I hear their songs...I really can't stand their music.

EDIT: Yea, "the Boss" can suck a fat one too. Wtf. No.
