One more, my relatives that I had planned to go see this weekend but decided I wasn't really up for all that driving this weekend (and yes, my son again, this time wearing his helmet all day):

Re: Post your travel pics
I'm going to try to get a few spots that not just everybody thinks about when they think about travelling. The first one isn't that unusual, though. I'll start with Colorado Springs. Sure, there's the Air Force Academy and all that, but two hiking spots I'll post are Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak, and I'll keep the numbers minimal.
Garden of the Gods was a gift by a private citizen to the city of Colorado Springs. As I understand, the condition of the gift was that access to it remain free of charge. It's free to go there to look, or to hike. Just a few shots from there first:
From the Garden of the Gods, I saw what I wanted my next hike to be ... yeah, see that mountain? I wanna get to the top of that mountain one of these days ... but it really needs to be a summer day instead of this trip:
On one of my return trips, I made it up there, but I learned a few things on this trip that I thought I'd share:
When planning a business trip here, if you think there is any chance of finishing a day early, or if you are planning to stay an extra day for this, and if you think the weather will be decent, pack some hiking clothes and equipment lest you embark on a hike dressed like I am in the next picture.
When beginning this hike, plan for the temperatures at the end to be just slightly cooler than they were at the trail head.
Bring something to eat. People tell you there is a restaurant at the summit, and that is true, but just because that restaurant has a great view (5 states as I understand) doesn't mean it has great food ...
And one more thing, if you're actually prepared for a hike (unlike I was), you might bring a camera that can capture the bighorn sheep you might encounter along the way:
