Middle of Everything

Wife and I will be going to Vegas for vaca pretty soon. For those that have been somewhat recently, give your votes on buffets and/or other places to eat. Not loaded, but not a cheap bastard either. Will be willing to spend some coin for some good food on a trip.

Thoughts appreciated.

The Lexor has a great buffet.
All you can eat all day for about $30 for the Lexor and a neighboring casino.

For me it's all about location. If you're going to Vegas there are some really great spots that you can drive to for a view, if you want to walk/hike a bit there are even better views, and if you're into rock climbing, well....

So my vote is a spork and the grocery store deli.
Along with a cooler with ice and favorite beverages for tailgating (drinking out of the large bottle is always fun), or bouldering a high rock with a beer in hand, sitting atop and waiting until you're sober to come down. So if I were going, I'd head for the hills or the desert. That would be desert, not dessert, but you can certainly combine the two.

You can take the money you save from picnics and put it towards a fine dining experience. When in Vegas Rain Forest Cafe and Excalibur make for fun dining events.

If you pull an all-nighter, get some coffee and cinnamon rolls from Starbucks and head out to watch the sun rise.

We were there last month, The Spice market Buffet at Planet hollywood was very very nice. I think it was $29 each? Everything was just gorgeous, all split up into different cuisines and it was huge!

We stayed at the Bellagio and did the brekkie buffet there one morning that was $15.99 and again it was lovely. If your just looking for some junk after a good old drink..Go looking for "the secret pizza place" in the cosmopoliton, Its fun to find but once your in there you buy by the slice at a steel counter and boy is it good pizza! Hot foot it back to your room and crack open the beer you prepared earlier and everyone is a winner!

For better food, stay off the Strip and go to the "locals'" hotel/casinos. Their proverbial bread and butter comes from the residents who are potential repeat customers, as opposed to the tourists who will be gone within days and may never be in town again.

The nicest and highest quality buffet I've been to in Vegas is at the Wynn. Go for lunch, as it's slightly cheaper, or go mid-afternoon before the dinner prices kick in. Sunday brunch is a ripoff since it costs more and the food is the same, they just add in champagne. But the food at this one is the best I've tried.
