Best full-course meal mother nature ever created. Every part of the plant is edible and nutritious, and we mow millions of them down every day in lawns cross America.
Dandelions are not indigenous to the Americas. They were brought by settlers to serve as a source of (are you ready for this): food! Dandelions are very much like lettuce.
My wife makes kimchi from dandelions. My grandmother used to make dandelion salads every spring. There is also a wild lettuce that she would use in salads.
I'll quickly admit that since I'm so eager to try foods from different cultures, I have a number of things I like that some other people think are gross. For that matter, I LOVE kimchi and my wife makes it all the time - it is a staple in her country. Many of my American friends think that is gross. I've even heard the description "tastes like sewage" from a couple of Americans.
I also love den-jang, a fermented soybean paste. It has a very strong smell and taste, but it is fantastic stuff IMO. Some of my friends can't stand the smell, but those from my wife's country love it, and so do I.
Food is such a cultural thing, and I'm WAY past the queasy thing ... I'm always ready to try something new.

Sashimi (aka: Raw fish). It's different from sushi because there is no rice and no rolls. It's the raw fish.
One of the most flavorful sashimis is octopus.
The Korean way of making squid sashimi where they grab the squid right out of the water and chop it up. The tentacle bits are still squirming on your plate when you eat them, and the suckers will stick to your tongue or cheek. I eat it ... it makes me feel so ... primitive
My Native American heritage is Cherokee, and the Cherokees don't have the tradition of eating the buffalo liver immediately when the buffalo is killed, but the siouxan tribes that lived in Oklahoma even before the 5 civilized tribes were moved there have that tradition. One Osage fellow I know invited me to a slaughter where they were going to do that. I wanted to go, and if I get another chance I absolutely WILL go ... and I'll take a big bloody bite out of that liver. He described it to me as being "Indian viagara." I can see that as giving me that primitive animal feel ... If my wife is there, she'd better be ready for a big, bloody kiss ... <GROWL>

dandelion tea is really good. I put lemon in it and a little bit of sugar. Very yummy. going to make more and see if the kids like it. They love eating the salad so this should be something they will like.
I did think about Bandit.45 eating them in front of his boss and the other weirded out on lookers...had to work hard not to laugh the tea out my nose
