this sounds like a smart azz remark to me.
i for one have a lot of respect for a good sahm.
to me it is at least as important as any outside job there is.
it can still be stressful and having deadlines. and what more demanding clients than your own family?
sounds like someone who doesnt respect the job a good mother and wife can do.
must still be unhappy in 2012 :/

I just have to point out.... if gardening is considered playing with dandelions and easy... then i guess landscaping is a cinch eh? I really think people need to stop trying to trivialize other forms of work. Just because it doesn't make a pay check.. doesn't mean it is any less stressful or difficult.

^^ This ^^ It takes all of us to make the world go round.
Re: Things or people that really get under your skin!
different things work for different people and situations..I feel blessed for my husband who has worked his butt off so that I had the privilege to stay home and raise my children the way I want. I know I did a dang good job of it too..I actually feel bad for those moms that work and come home to deal with the kids, house, laundry, grocery shopping..the list goes on..I worked for a couple years while my daughter was around a year old then quit when my son was born. Loved every minute of being home..working just didn't work out for me..I missed my baby too much, I also do understand not everyone has that choice. Now my kids are much older and less dependant on me so I am currently looking for full time work but it's so funny how my 18 yr old daughter don't want to be like me, she wants to be a career woman and that's fine but I have absolutely no regrets. My passion has always been my children. Oh well what I'm saying is there really isn't a correct answer to who works harder bla bla bla but I do have an issue with people putting their children in daycare when they are not at work..how could you not wanna be with your kids? Well minimal gardening can be done at anytime.. especially if you have a job.. It's not to difficult to water a potted plant if you don't have time for a garden outside. Besides it could be quite a stress reliever to see that gorgeous plant everyday even if it's just a potted one. If your really busy... a desert rose would probably be the best bet for those types.... it's really easy to maintain. Doesn't need watering that often AND it produces beautiful flowers.

So start a landscaping business where you do all the work yourself. You wont be Unhappy any more.

Some people can't handle the stress kids bring about... and i guess they miss that paternal instinct or something. I didn't trust anyone enough to handle my daughter aside from my hubby but he didn't like the staying at home while i worked situation so we ended up switching roles. Of course... I missed being able to work the entire dang near four years I've been a SAHM so with this third one.. I plan on putting the kids in daycare so i can go work. Partly because I miss being able to bring in money as well.. and partly because .. well we need the extra money. Now I'm not wanting to put them in daycare because i don't want to be with them... I'm putting them in daycare because both me and hubby are going to have to be working in order to afford to actually get them presents on their birthdays and celebrate holidays.. ect.

I hate when strangers bicker on a public forum for all to see. We don't really know each other, each other's situations, life history, ailments, etc. Yet we act like we do and we insult each other!! (not me...........but it's happening in this thread)

Re: Things or people that really get under your skin!
I didn't really have a choice - I've always been the main breadwinner so being a SAHM was never really an option. But because H worked longer hours I would get up, get her ready and off to school, go to work all day, come home, cook the dinner, do the housework, help with the homework, do all the parents evening/school shows/dance classes, etc. manage the finances and make sure the bills were paid, deal with all the day-to-day sh*t, do the laundry, make sure everyone had shirts and socks and school uniform and cash in hand
which is why the gradual creep of the phrase 'full-time mum' (in the UK at least) REALLY gets on my nerves because by implication I'm just a part-time mum and somehow doing my child a disservice
