Default Summer Solstice

16 hours and 34 minutes of daylight here today. All night the sky will be lit.

I feel like having a huge fire and dancing naked around it.

16h 45m 58s of daylight today here. The only one staying up late dancing around naked will be my 5 year old, as he keeps taking off his pj's trying to convince me its not night time because the sun isn't sleeping yet!

OMG when my middle child was little I used to have to paint the windowpanes black in summer or he NEVER SLEPT.

The older I get the less I sleep in summertime too. Right now I am waking up at 5 or 6 am every day, wide eyed awake, because it's LIGHT out. We have an east facing glass door in our bedroom.

Lon where are you located? Farther north than Edmonton apparently!!

I know, civil twilight is 10:20pm and nautical twilight begins near midnight and I don't think there will even be astronomical twilight so the sky will be partially illuminated all night. My bedroom faces northeast and I don't have blackout curtains so it is shining in my face just after 5am.

I'm actually a little farther south than you, but farther west in my time zone (S'toon).

Personally I'm more of an equinox kind of guy... that is I prefer the weather around and after the equinoxes rather than the solstices.
