"There are those ... who feel that as abominable as the actions of Flores were, he did not deserve a death sentence delivered through vigilante justice,"
Never a doubt in my mind that this would be the outcome.
This is truly a good man: calling 911 to try to get this bastard help, and being upset at his death. There aren't kudos enough for his protecting of his daughter, and for his simple humanity.
I have two daughters. I cannot imagine doing anything differently than this man did.
Not sure I would have a choice, really. Instinct would just kick in. Right or wrong, I don't think I'd be capable of rational thought in such a moment.
"If I found a half-naked man on top of my 5-year-old daughter, I might not have the strength to kill him. But I do know I would jump on his back and try to rip his eyes right out of his head."
PFFFT^^^^ I'd have MORE then enough strength to KILL him... hell I'd probably find a way to bring him to life over and over just to kill him again!

How do we know that the guy was actually molesting his daughter?
"McMinn added: 'The substantial amount of evidence showed that the witness statements and the father's statement and what the father had observed was in fact what had happened that day.'"
I think seeing a man naked from the waist down on top of your 5 year old pretty much speaks for itself. I can't imagine ANY scenario where that would be OK.

I didn't hear of other witnesses- only the father's. Who were the other witnesses?

The original story did say it was at a BBQ.. so no doubt there were friends and family there when the father heard the scream.. and they came running as well...

Not sure where you are going with this...
If I saw that I would also flip out, but i have no reason to believe that that is what he saw. He murdered someone. He has every reason to give a drastic reason for his actions. How do I know that that man didn't walk in on him abusing his own daughter?
But i haven't been following the story that closely. The first i heard was that there were no other witnesses.
I guess that he was laying on top of her with his pants and underwear pulled down would be a good indication that he was either in the act of or about to rape her. Plus eye witness spotted him taking her off to a pasture.
I'm glad the bastard is dead. I would of done the same thing if someone was raping one of my kids (or any kid for that matter). Good, the dad deserves a medal for what he did, he probably spared a lot of little kids horrible abuse. And you know what, I hope the molester was in a lot of pain when he died.
