Default Andy Griffith passed away.

After I sometimes give what I am sure are considered conservative views here, I often mention that "I guess I live in Mayberry." Well, Andy Griffith, the main resident of Mayberry passed away today at age 86. This is one of my favorite scenes from the show:

Awe Southbound... I bet you took a moment of silence when you heard that... my husband did tell me that day... he is a bit Mayberrish himself. Seems like Andy lived a full life anyway.

I loved Andy Griffith! And to me, the show still stands up, even today.

Hated Matlock, but hey, we all do what we need to do to make the rent.

When I heard it, I posted on Facebook. And I followed it up with this song, which he did with Brad Paisley.

Brad Paisley With Andy Griffith - Waitin' On A Woman - YouTube

Was so sad to hear it.

I loved the Andy Griffith show. They just don't make shows like that any more. They were clean, good for the whole family and usually had a moral to them.

It was a lovely, nostalgic show, but of course it idealized small town life. Griffith said that he had some of Andy Taylor's qualities, but he was not as nice a person. Not many people are! He had great comedic instincts in that he realized that Don Knotts would be the center of the show's humor, and Andy's character would be the straight man reacting to all of the odd people in the town.

I always wondered why he did not have a mother for Opie. I guess that made the father-son relationship closer, and the situation more wistful.

Loved Andy! Anytime I'd see him mentioned I couldn't help but to whistle a few bars of his theme song.Andy,Aunt Bea,Opie,Barney and the rest sent so many positive messages to my generation.

It was sad. I love the show, and now there are only two main characters still living. My 13 year old daughter said she actually cried when she heard it. My kids like watching Andy.

I'll always love the line : "Aunt Bea, just call the man!"
