Talking Road Trip!

H and I have been together several years, but for various reasons we've never gotten away for more than a long weekend.

Well, on Sunday, we're heading out on a ROAD TRIP! Full week, with the twins. Yay! I'm excited! Some family, some nice lodges in parks, lots of hiking.

And yes, we do get our own room

LOL. We are travelling with 17 year olds, we'll be lucky to ever get on the road before noon!

Yes...and that means we have 6 delightful hours together before we have to start listening to play-by-plays of their SkyRim adventures

Sounds like fun; where all are you going? (If you don't mind me asking)

No doubt the road trips we take now are alot different than they were back in the old days, pre-kids. My buddies and I would head off to Louisiana to eat boudin and drink beer, or head down to Nuevo Laredo to people-watch and drink beer, or take half-assed camping trips to Big Bend to hike around and drink beer.

I miss going to NL! I won't go anymore, even though I speak Spanish quite well -- just too scary there these days.

We'll be tooling through parts of TX and OK. We thought about Big Bend, but I think we'll save that for December...

Oh Hell no. We used to hit the border towns pretty frequently, and once I drove all the way down to Guadalahara. My Spanish was good enough to ask directions and I still can say "necesitamos cuatro bolsas de hielo, por favor", but now? No way.

I swear, the next trip I'm taking will include 10 miles on the first day. That way I know we'll get going on the day I really plan on leaving.

We used to do more road trips. The problem is that an ADHD 8 y/o boy and road trips don't mix well. It doesn't help that we go with our RV now, which means 5 in a crew cab truck. When we took the van they had a little more room.

I'm thinking that I need to get one of those limousine windows in my truck. That way when they get going I can just raise the window and let them settle it among themselves.

Yeah, probably more fun playing it than hearing someone else rehash what they did and didn't do while playing it
