But does it offend you? Would the opposite offend you if a movie ad contained a joke about "your girlfriend may appear fat"?
Nope. When you have been over 400 pounds at one time, that is something that wouldn't offend me. Why should it? Seriously, if I was going to be offended, I would have been offended at what the women in Fast & the Furious were wearing. Or any other action movie I enjoy watching with my husband. But I couldn't care less about the advertisements. Seriously, I couldn't care less about it.

False comparison. Merely showing a hot guy or girl isn't making fun of your spouse. It's the deliberate and literal taunting I'm talking about.
It seems mean-spirited. Does mean-spiritedness appeal to women nowadays? Like making fun of fatties and slobs and losers is great fun.
Dude, seriously. I don't care about the stupid ad. And most of the women I know, couldn't care less about it either. The ones I know, personally, who are going to see it, are going for Channing Tatum, or Matthew McConaughey. They aren't going to make their husband/boyfriends/SOs feel inferior. They are going to see the movie, because they like the actor. The others I have heard about going have gone/are going because they like male strippers. Seriously, they aren't paying attention to some stupid ad that says their husbands will feel/be inadequate.
Okay. If you had a boyfriend, and you saw the ad above, would it appeal to you? I'm just trying to understand why the marketing for the movie seems to emphasize schadenfreude and comparing the guys on screen to the guys at home.
No, the ad itself kind of ticks me off. If I had a boyfriend, he probably wouldn't look any more like Channing Tatum than I look like Angelina Jolie. Doesn't make either one of us inadequate. I had not seen any of the ads, however; because I don't have TV. When a girlfriend asked me to go see the movie with her I had to look it up.

Thank you! Finally someone actually answers the question.
