Didn't read through this thread but I personally think they divorced so quickly so that he could save face re: Scientology. He wanted to shut the divorce down quickly so it could go away fast. he is fully aware that a lot of people think he's a weirdo for his ties with the Chuch and otherwise and he didn't want to attract more attention to is. It's been widely reported that she left him because of his ties to Scientology so this all goes back to saving his career.
I was surprised at how quickly they locked into a settlement yet now that I think about it, it was a smart move on his part, career and image-wise. From a PR standpoint, ending it quickly was genius on his part.
Who knows what went on in the marriage. She knew full-well that he was into Scientology when she dated/married him. Maybe she just didnt want to be with him anymore. But the Scieno factor shouldn't have been a surprise to her at all.

~ A woman was sipping on a glass of wine, while sitting on the patio with her husband. She says, "I love you so much, I don't know how I could ever live without you". Her husband asks, "Is that you or the wine talking?"...She replies, "It's me ... talking to the wine.
Back in the Golden Age of Hollywood, stars would get a divorce by proxy in the Dominican Republic. Neither party had to attend, only their attorneys.
If only it were that easy for all of us and emotionally abusive WS couldn't cause drama in court. Maybe the unnecessary-divorce rate would go down if you had to pay for a lawyers vacation
If it was up to me marriage would be expensive and require a jury of your peers (tribal elders) to grant a license, require counseling check ups twice a year, and divorce would be as simple as a mutual check box on a married tax return to be finalized by the time you get your tax return.
Based on a story heard on the radio this morning, he's already cozying up to a potential new Mrs. Try-To-Make-Tom-Look-Normal, his co-star in the movie he's currently filming. Coupled with the picures shown on GMA yesterday of members of the movie's crew "warmly embracing him to welcome him back" (no...the crew couldn't POSSIBLY have been told that, since photographers were inevitable, to comfort him as if it were a true marriage having failed), I'm more convinced than ever that his relationships are all just for the sake of his image. The funny thing is that LRH said, to a public audience at an SF convention way back in the early 1950's that writing was a waste of time and if you wanted to make serious money you had to start a religion.
Lafayette Ronald Hubbard was also a member of Aleister Crowley's sex magic cult where he reportedly molested young boys, and jokingly said "Jesus was a child molester" to members of the lodge so he could justify his perversion. I also read something about him cheating on all of his wives, abusing small children physically and mentally(not just sexually), and secretly being gay.
If you read the whole sneaky process she took to get it done she was pretty clever in planning the whole thing, and she wouldn't have to do all that if her husband wasn't such a brainwashed scientology creep.

I thought the crews on his films 'weren't allowed to look Mr Cruise in the eye'

If that's the case (no telling with Cruise), then that makes the pics shown of random crew members giving him sympathetic hugs and handshakes sound even more like staged paparazzi photo ops. Posted via Mobile Device
