A Kentucky girl who was sexually assaulted now faces jail time for talking about it publicly.

Savannah Dietrich, 17, could be locked up on contempt-of-court charges for tweeting the names of her attackers after they allegedly got a sweetheart plea bargain, according to a published report.

Dietrich, who was molested while passed out at a party by the sick creeps, told the Louisville Courier-Journal newspaper that she was outraged because the boys were given a deal that she thinks is “very, very light.”

The judge in the case had further protected the sex fiends by placing a gag order that barred Dietrich from talking about what happened to her.

“I was crying as she [the judge] was reading that,” Dietrich said. “They got off very easy . . . and they tell me to be quiet, just silencing me at the end.”

But she tweeted her attackers' names anyway, and now faces time behind bars for violating the order.

“There you go, lock me up,” tweeted Dietrich, who agreed that her name be made public although she is a sex-crime victim. “I’m not protecting anyone that made my life a living Hell.”

My guess is that the punks have friends in high places as well.

Putting her picture on the internet is pretty serious stuff. It certainly points to their guilt doesn't it?

I hope this case also makes a lot of young ladies realize that going to parties, getting sh!t faced and passing out is a very bad idea. She has no responsibility for what they did. But keeping oneself safe is a good rule to follow.

I read this and found it unbelievable! It's one thing for the POS rapers to cut a plea deal, it is a clear violation of the her first amendment rights to prevent her from disclosing the names of the scum that raped her.

the two scumbags should be walked through the streets with signs above their heads proclaiming what they've done. Even then, they would be getting off easy.

Good for her for not being told what to do by the morally corrupt courts.

This judge is about to find out what outrage in the age of the internet is like. She's going to want to disappear really soon.

That's all I can figure out. Different standards for different places. What they did would get them 7 years here if they were over 16.

Girls need to know that if they pass out at a party, they've got very high odds of getting raped. It shouldn't be the case. We can wish that it wasn't the case. But it is reality.

I've heard the analogy:

Cars are supposed to yield to pedestrians. But if you close your eyes and step into a crosswalk on a busy highway, you're going to get hit sooner or later.

Yep.

My kids had a friend in high school that this happened to. It was very hard on her because a lot of the other kids, girls included were very hateful to her about it. They blamed her for talking about it afterwards. She ended up never trying to get them prosecuted because the others at the party stuck up for the boy who raped her.

My kids were not at that party (Thank God). Any one of them would have beaten the guy to a pulp right there ... even my daughter. They were just about the only kids in school who stuck up for this girl.

This is exactly why most rapes are never reported.

Wow. This stirs up a lot of junk for me.

It's ridiculous that she has had a gag order placed on her... I thought the purpose of gags was to prevent people from talking about cases to press/media/jurors in the midst of a trial? It seems this one has concluded? Or am I mistaken?

Gag orders trump Freedom of Speech... BUT, I don't think they can be held up after a court trial. If this gag was ordered after the trial, I don't think a contempt charge would stick...

It's ridiculous how many parties I went to in college where me and some good guy friends had to break up date rape situations. I was told point blank at one frat to never come back. They were all standing around a couch while some pledge was doing his best to try and fit in by "getting his first peice". Everybody whooping and hollering......Honestly I hope she really was blacked out and not just pretending. I would rather have no memory of being violated that way than to even have one glimpse of an image stuck in my head. Anyways, it was me against the world that night since my buddies weren't with me and it was about 50-1 in that room. So I made the world a little smaller and called the cops from their house phone in another room then made my way out the back door. Never heard what happened after I left. Back then posting on the internet wasn't an option so I'm thankful for that.

That is so disgusting. I hope that girl wasn't raped. I don't get the "mob mentality" dynamic in these situations. Certainly they know this is wrong, but no one says anything. It makes me want to throw up.
