Good luck! I quit 14 years ago and haven't smoked since. I took up running in place of smoking. I no longer can run due to breaking my neck.

The first two weeks were the absolute hardest. After that it got easier and after 2 years I hated the smell more then ever!

i've been through bouts before when i was actually smoking and i was like "ew.. this one isnt very good" but i always go back to it. i'm seriously hoping the smell with gross me out soon.

today i walked past a woman smoking out of her car and i wanted to jump her... and steal her cigarette. it's kind of like when you're on a diet and you see awesome commercials for food on tv. absolute torture. but you gotta do what you gotta do... i'm still trekking along. impending surgery and obnoxious diet are stressing me out... ahhh.. what i'd give.

anyway.. thanks for the support yall! <3

oh yeah! and whoever said sleep through the moments where you feel withdrawal... THANK YOU!!! sleeping and napping is VERY helpful for me i've noticed!

I tried to get into smoking when I was a teenager, in all honesty to look cool. But they're so harsh and tasted like death, the smell wasn't even an issue.

I just looked like a pratt coughing up in the end.

But your thread reminded me of this

Trigger Happy TV - Smoking = Death 2 - YouTube

I have been smoke free for 16+ years now and it was one of the best decisions I ever made, and now my body really has no recognition of me ever smoking before and the cravings completely left me after like the first 2-3 years.

The only really successful attempts I've had were straight up cold turkey.

Once when I was 15 after only smoking a year, I put them down for a year..year and a half.

then in 2009, I got so bad that every attempt to smoke pierced my lungs so bad I physically could not smoke, to add to it i was having insane shooting sharp pains through my head that would drop me to my knees, and crazy heart freak outs for no apparent reason. I literally couldn't smoke and dropped them. (for a few months, until my wedding and my best friends second pregnancy)

Frankly, the hardest part is dealing with everyone dealing with me. I am the worst person to deal with as far as moods go and I cannot control it. it's like sitting outside myself watching me act in a way totally unacceptable, and not being able to stop it.

I keep nicotine mints, an e-cig, and back up off brand cigs around.

my only successes have been with cold turkey, and for me, it only works until I am suddenly overwhelmed with stress and I dive right back into them.

I have been using an e-cig since February 2010 and have not touched a cigarette since! It's the only thing that has worked for me for more than 6 months. I feel like a new person.
