During the summer, every night at this time the woodland creatures take to their highway through our land... it's the irriation ditches that flow through the the farms and orchards.

I can set my clock by the time when our skunk family comes through ... yes the smell of skunk at 10pm every night all summer long.

I think they proactively spray to warn our dogs to leave them along. But the smell seems to have become a call to the dogs. Now as soon as they smell it the dogs run out to see the skunks.

I'm getting so used to the smell I'm thinking of bottling and selling it... very diluted of course.

It smells better than some of the body cologn that some of the younger generation is wearing...

May sound strange, but I grew up in an area where Skunks were very common. They loved nothing more than to fling themselves to their deaths under a moving car.

Now I live in an area where skunks are very rare.

When I travel, I will on occasion, smell the left over from a Skunk suicide.

It kind of makes me homesick.

Splash vinegar everywhere to drive off the skunks and such. If that doesn't work use coyote urine which you can buy at some upscale nurseries

White vinegar. We use it on the spots that the dogs obsessively dig. You have to use A LOT of it - maybe a gallon or more. You could use ammonia but that would kill your yard. The orchid nursery here sells coyote urine to keep any number of pests off your yard. Problem is it washes out quickly and its fairly expensive.

We have coyotes that live around here. They used to stalk our horses when we had horses. I might be able to get some of that stuff fresh... (after I catch me a coyote )

I’d think that the urine from my 3 big dogs would keep the skunks away. No luck there. Even the skunks now that our dogs are spoiled big puppies.
