Default A Heartbreaking story

At my abusive relationship support group last night, we heard about a mother of 5 who came to our shelter and died suddenly of an aneurysm. I didn't personally know her, but several of the woman last night did.

Our local Y, who sponsors our shelter, has set up a fund to help with expenses. They were just starting over here, so they didn't have time to establish a home. Here's a snippet of the article from our local paper. If anyone would like to help, there is contact info at the end.

"This past week, a loving single mother of five passed away unexpectedly due to a brain aneurysm. She and her five children, ages 7 through 17, were survivors of domestic violence and had come to Montana to start a life free of abuse. They stayed at the YWCA safe shelter before transitioning into the YWCA’s Emergency Housing Program for homeless families. The family was in the process of finding permanent housing when the mom suddenly passed away. Her five children will be living with their aunt and uncle who are trying to offer a stable, supportive and loving home to them. They are in need of food (precooked meals or other goods), toiletries, Target and/or Walmart gift cards, gas cards, and twin bedding as they make this difficult transition in their time of grieving. Monetary donations to help with funeral costs and other expenses can be made out to the YWCA Missoula. Please bring donations to the YWCA main office, 1130 W. Broadway and contact Rebecca Pettit with any questions at the YWCA, (406) 543-6691 or rpettit@ywcaofmissoula.org."

Very sad indeed. I feel so bad for those children and their family.

I knew OF a lady who died at a Birthday party of a child with a brain aneurysm....she was fine, laughing, helping out one minute, then she was gone. In her early 40's I think. So tragic.

It'd be a great way to GO when we're old, but it sure isn't when one is younger with kids left behind.

Just hope her family is up to the task & they manage to stay together. Hate stories like this.

Reminds us all -this could be our last day. Life is so damn unfair. There is nothing "secure" so embrace the insecurity of it all.

I'll shut up now.
