Default Male vs. Female Knowledge

How well do you do in areas of knowledge that are sometimes gender specific? There was a forum years ago where the men and women would try to stump each other. These were some of the better/harder questions (IMO)

(This is only for fun!)

(1) Which of the Titanic's three screws could not be reversed to help stop the ship and why?

(2) What is the difference between Ladies and Misses sizes?

(3) Did the original Mopar Hemi use compression or torsion valve springs?

(4) What is a loofah?

(5) How many spark plugs does a Honda Valkyrie have?

(6) Coach and Dooney & Burke are brands of what?

(7) What is the difference between a tap and a die?

(8) A skillet is a type of what?

(9) True or False: In a two cycle engine every down stroke is a power stroke

(10) True or False: A newborn should always sleep on its back.

(11) What does the acronym LED stand for?

(12) True or False: The best way to remove blood from a garment is with very hot water.

(13) True of False: Gold is a better conductor than copper.

(14) Vera Wang is best known for what?

I'm woefully ignorant. I only know half of them.

I don't know the difference between Ladies and Misses sizes, but I know what LED stands for. I also know what TNT stands for .

(1) Which of the Titanic's three screws could not be reversed to help stop the ship and why?

Pass

(2) What is the difference between Ladies and Misses sizes?

What is a 'misses' size? is that the same as 'petite'? If so it's for little teeny short thin people (but still adults)

(3) Did the original Mopar Hemi use compression or torsion valve springs?

Well I've got 50/50 so I'm going for torsion valve as it sounds more exciting

(4) What is a loofah?

You use it to scrub your back but it's a natural sponge

(5) How many spark plugs does a Honda Valkyrie have?

What's a Honda Valkyrie

(6) Coach and Dooney & Burke are brands of what?

Handbags

(7) What is the difference between a tap and a die?

A tap cuts a nut and a die cuts a screw

(8) A skillet is a type of what?

Pan

(9) True or False: In a two cycle engine every down stroke is a power stroke

Errrrrrrrrrrrr

(10) True or False: A newborn should always sleep on its back.

It's not a true or false - they change their minds once a decade

(11) What does the acronym LED stand for?

Light Emitting Diode

(12) True or False: The best way to remove blood from a garment is with very hot water.

I would probably throw it away

(13) True of False: Gold is a better conductor than copper.

True

(14) Vera Wang is best known for what?

Fashion designer

(1) Which of the Titanic's three screws could not be reversed to help stop the ship and why?
Middle one - because the other two reverse for steering purposes

(2) What is the difference between Ladies and Misses sizes?
There isn't any difference. However there IS a difference between Juniors (odd #s, narrower hips) and Misses (even sizes, cut for adults) and Women's sizes (sizes 14+ takes up where Misses leaves off).

(3) Did the original Mopar Hemi use compression or torsion valve springs?
Don't know about Hemi engines - do I get half a point for knowing it's an engine?

(4) What is a loofah?
Oceanic sponge used for exfoliation.

(5) How many spark plugs does a Honda Valkyrie have?
One for every piston. (It's a motorcycle, isn't it? Two maybe?)

(6) Coach and Dooney & Burke are brands of what?
Handbags

(7) What is the difference between a tap and a die?
Die is for cutting; tap is for embossing?

(8) A skillet is a type of what?
Pan

(9) True or False: In a two cycle engine every down stroke is a power stroke
Isn't every down stroke a power stroke regardless of how many cycles?

(10) True or False: A newborn should always sleep on its back.
This changes but last I heard it was side.

(11) What does the acronym LED stand for?
Light emitting diode

(12) True or False: The best way to remove blood from a garment is with very hot water.
False

(13) True of False: Gold is a better conductor than copper.
Hm. No clue! I know Dad's gold wedding band gave him quite a shock when it came in contact with the car batter, though!

(14) Vera Wang is best known for what?
Clothing - most specifically wedding dresses.

Take all the male questions and it sounds like the kind of questions my son used to call me about when he worked in the hardware department of a department store during his summer break. They were usually panicky calls when an angry customer came in, and he couldn't answer them. He quickly learned that a former machinist who now works in automotive powertrain development is the LAST person you should call for tips on buying the best tap and die set, or grade of oil filter, but he seemed to enjoy giving the cutomer far more in the way of detail than they needed to know.

Ok, I think most are covered fairly well, but there is one thing I want to clarify regarding #2: the misses/ladies clothing sizes. If, by Ladies, we mean WOMEN'S, there is a difference. WOMEN'S sizes have a W after them. Now, you can have a 14 or 16 or 18 in Misses, but it is NOT the same size as a 14W or 16W or 18W. The W is a larger size.

As for the babies sleeping position, as others have stated, it is constantly changing. When I had my babies, they said back only. Mine always were propped on their sides because I didn't want to risk them aspirating if they spit up.

I actually DID know a few of the "men's" answers before I read the replies though. And some of the "ladies'" questions were beyond me lol.
