I was serious about my post. I still don’t understand how that was disrespectful. And the fact that you see it as disrespectful says more about you than it does about me.

I think that a large percentage of women today do not expect a man to hang their entire sense of worth on their ability to provide. Since most women do work today and at least 50% earn as much or more than their husband, clearly a lot of women are not looking for men to support them.
No... I'm saying that if I were a woman and I heard a man telling OTHER MEN, "Stop hanging your entire self-worth on your ability to provide", then I would be happy. This is precisely what a HUGE chunk of the male population believes. "I provide... I work... therefore I DESERVE (insert a multitude of things here)."

I would think, as a woman, the response to that would be, "Yes... THANK YOU! We don't NEED a man's paycheck. We need somebody who is interesting, good-looking, sexy, funny, smart, intelligent, ambitious, etc. All you guys with that "I make good paycheck therefore I deserve love" attitude can go away."

Thanks for the clarification.

For the most part, couples need both incomes these days to take care of a family. So they both depend on each other for income and in so many other ways.
