In the days of vaudeville, there were lots of jokes about greedy Jews and drunken Irish people. Since the atheist stuff is acceptable here, is the other stuff too? If not, can someone explain the difference?

If you ever knew someone who didn't reveal his religion, you can't honestly make this statement.

My kind of peeps. Lkheym and cheers! I’m not religious but I do identify as Jewish and drunken.

One significant difference. You are born Jewish or Irish.

You choose the other stuff.

People make fun of me for being a mountain biker, a conservative, a tree hugger, a skier, a military man, and at least a dozen other things. It's all good.

I have friends who cross fit and love that joke... even they say it fits.

or you can choose to be Jewish after being born otherwise.

This is what a person with a sense of humor looks like.

I generally don't reveal I'm an atheist unless I know the other person won't be judgmental. I have no desire to deal with the issues that would come from people thinking I'm amoral. For example, I've heard of religious people not letting their kids play with kids of atheist parents. All that kind of nonsense means I'm not going around blabbing that I don't believe in god.

This whole idea that you cannot possibly do good things or be opposed to awful things unless you believe in God is ignorant and insulting. And I DO believe in God. Whenever I hear this "who do you worry about right or wrong if you don't believe in God" I do an eye roll. How arrogant, and what a crappy representation of faith - I just do the right thing because I don't wanna get zapped.

Since I have been documenting my weight loss journey, I cannot tell you how many people (especially Facebook friends) assume that means I want to overspend on their powders and keto stuff and wraps.....It annoys me to no end.

I imagine that is a tiny feel of what an atheist must feel when people assume telling them he's an atheist means he wants them to immediately invite him to church and let him, know he is going to hell.

People are weird.

I had my kids shunned because I let them play with Pokemon cards and watched the cartoon with them...

The people shunning us went to the same church we did.

My oldest son loved Harry Potter and so I took him to every movie even though I wasn't a fan. You guessed it, lot of church people took exception to it.

This pretty much hits the nail on the head for me. I'm not ashamed or anything... I just don't want to deal/bother with people like this and their attitudes.

Logical fallacy, what ''lots of people'' think is irrelevant.

However, believing something came from nothing is literally crazy.

Just saying.

My comment was specific to the poster I had quoted...due to a history of her posts/ideas/judgements I've read over a long while.
