Why is that a better question? Suppose you're the target of an investigation. The prosecution wants to cherry pick testimony witnesses and documentation he believes is not going to support your innocence while refusing the testimony of the witnesses that will produce exculpatory evidence. Would you be willing to produce only the witnesses and documentation that the prosecution wants?
This is starting to resemble an episode of Twilight Zone where a person is proved guilty by trying to defend himself.

So how can people here blast the Dems for not allowing them to call people and at the same time, they should not call people, nor provide information. Which is it?

This is it, see, in order for there to be a cabal of a dozen or more people, that means that somewhere around 5-10x more are aware of it. People are notorious for not being able to keep quiet. Where did they get all of this information? Who do they talk to? How do they have secret meetings and communicate, coordinate, and plan all of this?

How does all of this happen without a massive conspiracy? Also, the word massive is misleading I think. To me, if there are dozen people across multiple agencies working together, that is a massive conspiracy. I am not thinking thousands of people, that is an impossible conspiracy.

How could all of this happen, and no one use it to their advantage and leverage all of this information for their own personal gain by turning it over to Trump or the Republicans? To me, that is just too farfetched of an idea, that a 'cabal' of people who will do anything to accomplish their own goals, have goals that are so selfless that they won't sell out everyone to benefit. It is like these people are evil, smart, stupid, blind, and good hearted all at the same time.

None of it makes sense.

If I am the target of an investigation, and I refused to comply with subpoenas, ordered those working for me to defy subpoenas, and intimidated those who honored subpoenas then I would be in jail.

Because that is how the system works. You keep thinking this is a trial. It is not.

Re: whistleblower complaint against Trump

From his opening statement, it looks like Sondland has decided to sing and pull everyone under the bus with him.

My portfolio has increased by 6.5% since October 22 ......... while we get deeper into impeachment. I wonder what investors may be trying to tell us.

Nothing? Because who the president is has little to do with the economy? The market, overall, is not up that much, so perhaps, at most, it says that your particular stocks are doing well in spite of or because of this.

The reality, is that it is most likely unrelated.

Ken Starr on Fox news even said that this is a big day, there will be articles of impeachment.

Fox is also commenting on how republicans are not talking much today.

For one, a pretty long border with the US
climate change issues affect the world and so on........
I understand that Americans are going to Canada to buy drugs like insulin because monthly doses in the US are sold for $1k or more.

What if Americans became so poor that we could become Canada's Mexico. People fleeing to Canada for freedom of speech, religion, sexual orientation and so on......

1. The POTUS is still realistically one of the most powerful positions/roles on earth.
2. We live next door and are impacted by many things Americans do. I have had my own children yelled at - in the Maui airport while leaving the country no less - that 'we better watch ourselves because now that Trump is in office, we're not taking any **** from you people any longer.' By a TSA agent.
3. Many Canadians look up to America, as does the world, as something of a 'defender of the faith' when it comes to freedom, democracy, etc. Leader of the free world, and all that. We've fought in many wars together. We're each other's largest trading partner. We share the longest undefended border in the world. We share a common language and many ideals. But that's all going away.
4. Trump is a lying, racist, misogynistic poor excuse for a leader - and as someone married to someone that's been sexually assaulted, I think it's offensive that yanks have put a guy that has literally dozens of accusations of sexual assaults, has admitted to doing so on tape, has paid women off to shut up, has had 'catch and kill' stories done to shut up other women, has admitted to walking into women's change rooms while they're changing in article interviews into the highest office of the land.
5. What he is normalizing is racism, misogyny, sexual assault, xenophobia, and blatant corruption and lying. American culture is a pandemic - what becomes normal there will soon be normal here. That idea disgusts me.
6. America, American media, and Americans themselves often interferes, comments, criticizes, or gets involved in worldwide politics culture, and issues, including Canadian ones. So I feel very free to do the same, because turnabout is fair play. I've discussed Trudeau and other issues here and elsewhere with Americans, for example. As I have said, I've been personally impacted by Trump in numerous ways, including 'letting *******s off the leash' as it were, and no longer will travel to the US unless required to do so for work (which I have done and continue to do).
