Will americans turn against Donald Trump?

President Trump does have loyal supporters overwhelmingly they will fight tooth and nail over the bitter end over their support. They also cast Obama is a negative light as a failed president but this got me thinking. Could loyal trump supporters turn against him?? and in 5 years have an attitude of "I can't believe I once supported him". Could president Trump be the next failed obama??
My prediction if the economy tanks big time in his next term if re-elected and unemployment reaches record high, inflation, foreclosers, debt that cannot be repaid, national deficit then brace yourself because we will see the biggest mass exodus of trump supporters you will ever witness. Yes it can happen but hell to the no I don't want that to happen.
I think there could be a senerio where Trump supporters will turn against him and in 5-6 years he would just be another failed president like Obama.

IDK, because if you look who he is up against and then as a lame duck. It could happen but will it is a whole other thing. But what much does it matter at that point?

Re: Will americans turn against Donald Trump?

Literally ANYTHING is possible.

What I see happening after the next four years is a bipartisan bill introduced that removes term limits and Trump (and after his body dies, his brain in a vat) serves for the next 100yrs.

Not probable, though.

Someone said in another thread that Trump should be magnanimous with Whitehouse employees who testified against him. Will we see magnanimity from Dems once they win the WH again?

Hypocrisy is the name of the game. What we see from the Dems is exactly what we saw from the GOP during Obama’s years. The same trash and disrespect we saw given to Bush Jr, which was the same as the Clinton Era and now Trump. Politicians seem to be hypocrites by nature. I mean they have shown both Mitch and Pelosi flip flopping over the years on the same or similar topics.

The difference between now and the other named presidents is, Trump is loud about his payback while the others were quiet. Arguably, at least you know what he is and what Trump will do.

With the Dems kicking up dust, socialist agenda, identity politics, open border/illegals got mo rights din you got, pandering to homosexuals and barring some catastrophic event with the economy, Trump will go down as the prez that caused the stars and bars on the flag to mean something again. Every time Pelosi, Schiff, or Nadler open their mouths, its like top brokerage firms making a major upgrade on Trump Inc.

I don’t think his base will ever turn against him, no matter what he does - including attempting to repeal term limits and declaring himself president for life.

This is identity politics, not issue politics.

It's always troubling to me when people are so loyal they see no flaws or so hate-filled they see no positives. It's a sign of how histrionics and petulant we have all become.

I do have some beach front property in Nebraska to sell everyone who actually believes term limits will be abolished, however.

The uneducated and politically entitled Trump base will never turn on him, no matter if he's ultimately arrested, tried, and convicted, once he leaves office.

As the rest of his sordid story unfolds, I feel that, in time, the non-cultist element of the GOP will eventually turn away, joining Senator Romney, once that they see that Trump is taking the heart of the radical element of the GOP, who so fervently protects his brazen acts of criminality!

Actually, we seriously need term limits in both the Federal legislative and judicial branches!

House = (2) 2 year terms
Senate = (1) 6 year term
Judicial = End Lifetime Appointments

I am not sure I see it as identity politics quite.

The modern world is alienating a lot of people, and the way in which Donald Trump is offensive is seen by many as a bulwark against that.

I think Vlad puts that well...

The modern world seem to be destroying the world as it was when they were young.

identity politics … a tendency for people of a particular religion, race, social background, etc., to form exclusive political alliances, moving away from traditional broad-based party politics.

Identity politics is a political approach and analysis based on people prioritizing the concerns most relevant to their particular racial, religious, ethnic, sexual, social, cultural or other identity, and forming exclusive political alliances with others of this group, instead of engaging in more traditional, broad-based party politics. Those who prioritize their particular type of identity politics may promote their group's interests without regard for the interests of larger, more diverse political groups.

Yes, and not necessarily a bad thing. But it is also the nature of things in identity politics to see any change that might benefit others as a threat to the group.

I agree.

It’s also why debating on issues is often a fools errand. Because to many, the issues don’t matter, they are only misdirections. Its a lesson I sorely needed to learn.
