England won! Columbia are out!

First time England have won a penalty shootout at this stage.

Sorry, Columbia.

Re: Argh!!!! It's gone to penalties!

I heard the young men next door yelling so I know we had won. So pleased for the players.

Re: Argh!!!! It's gone to penalties!

This couldn't be set up any more perfectly for England.

Every traditionally tough team is on the other side of the bracket.

This is what England doesn't have to go through:

Brazil
Belgium
Uruguay
France

8 combined World Cup Championships

England side of the bracket: ZERO (well...1 if you count England)

Can you say "cakewalk" to the final?

When you get to the best 8 in the world, they are all very good.

If England are ever going to win the World Cup again then this is the best chance they will ever have.None of the big teams that are left are playing well and the loss to Belgium was meaningless.
If they get to the final I’m going and I will update your thread about odd places to log into tam from.lol.

Just as long as they don't get the proverbial "home-cooking" by host Russia!

Re: Argh!!!! It's gone to penalties!

I was reading somewhere that England fans didn't really "show up" at the Cup this year.

What is up with that?

Is everyone in England on the "hoodlum list" and banned from travel or are they just not very high on the team?

Also, I can't understand a word Harry Kane says in his interviews. Is it just me?

This is the first tournament in living memory that the British tabloid press hasn’t tried to convince the British public that England will win the World Cup.They actually have some good players and in Harry Kane they have a world class goal scorer despite a lot of his goals coming from penalties.
It is also fairly obvious that none of the strong nations are playing well and with Germany out,England being in the weakest side of the draw and no injuries to anyone important then they could go all the way.
The only side I can see really troubling them is France and they can’t meet unless it is the final.
Now the drawbacks. This is England and if ever a team has a record of shooting themselves in the foot it is them. They have had chances before to do well but a mixture of bad behavior by players ie David Beckham and an inability to take penalties has seem them going home.
I’m not British but I own a home in London and I have many relatives scattered around the British Isles so if they get to the final I will be there cheering them on.

Re: Argh!!!! It's gone to penalties!

I hate having 120+ minutes of battle being decided on penalty kicks.

But I have to admit, that was very exciting. High tension at it's finest.

Good to see England get that particular monkey of its back.
