Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

Someone once told me I'm..

"a troubled beautiful man. You make a difference just by being you - authentic, raw, flawed, self-deprecating, deeply caring, and genuinely soulful. You matter."

... that one will always stick with me.

The one compliment I get consistently is that I have beautiful eyes. The one that I remember most was from a man who said I have inquisitive eyes. It was unique and immediately perked my interest.

Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

I just thought of a really cute one, not to me, but my bff told me about it. Her husband is not the type to give compliments and we were talking about this once. She said she wished he would tell her she looks nice when they get dressed up to go out or something, but he just isnít like that and she has come to accept it. But she said he does give her compliments in his own way which are some of the best ones, like for instance he will say ďyouíre looking too skinny, you need to gain some weightĒ. I told her that was the best compliment Iíve ever heard of and I was jealous!

This woman was getting dressed one morning and she turned to her husband and said “my hair looks terrible, my skin is all wrinkled and pale, my eyes are bloodshot and I’m gaining weight, I need a compliment “.
Her husband said “You’re eyesight is perfect”.

When someone says itís not the money itís the principle,itís always the money.

Sounds like that someone speaks the truth and really cares about you.

Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

This is gonna be hard to narrow down cuz I've had some really awesome ones (including ones gifted by wonderfully kind Tamily members!), but these are what always come to mind when fave compliments are discussed.

An atheist friend told me I made him want to believe; that I was the closest proof he had that a God could exist. (Like h'wut???)

My BFF who is beautifully gay to the gayest power told me he wished I was hairy and had a **** because I'm so perfect and the love of his life.

But the absolute best compliment I've ever received is my dearly departed dad telling me I was his saving grace and the best thing that had ever happened to him.

Your last paragraph made me tear up.

My dad also told me that I was the highlight of his life.

Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

Many years ago, I (sad and lonely) was the only single with a bunch of couples at a restaurant dinner--at the end of the table. A guy passed by me on the way back to his table and leaned down, pulled my hair back and whispered in my ear. Now I had tried extra hard that evening.

My face turned red, the table went hysterical, I got tears in my eyes. He did not know me. I did not even know who/where behind me he was. So, this kind, flirty man will never know he made a compliment to always be remembered as my best. He said, "You look magnificent."

Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

I developed physically early. C cups in 7th grade early. I was primarily responsible for the house, caring for my disabled mother, and caring for my siblings because Dad worked insane hours. So, I came off older than I actually was by years. I had a lot of silver tongued devils complimenting me damn near constantly from the time I was 15 on. I've heard it all. While it's nice to get male attention after while you just get kind of numb to it.

My husband once told me I was the most useful person he'd ever met. That is my favorite compliment ever. He's not watching my cute face or pretty hair. He's noticing what I do and who I am.

Follow the evidence where it leads and question everything.

@Curse of Millhaven, these are all such amazing compliments but I especially love the 1st one. Says a lot about the kind of wonderful person you are. WE all knew that but your atheist friend worded it best.

Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

So this one is a recent one from a good male friend. He said I was a "glitter covered, double rainbow pooping unicorn". I'll take it

Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

You guys are goof balls (thank goodness).

I had a guy write a poem about me in high school. Iíve searched for him my whole life (even before internet) but have never been able to find him. Heís my ďwonder what could have happenedĒ guy of all times. I canít remember the whole poem but part of it was:

Hair like cotton
Teeth like pearls

Iíll never forget it or him as long as I live

He was such a great kisser too!!

Re: Favorite or most memorable compliment

There was a young kid who went to our church (my first job transfer, we moved 8 times) who many years later tracked us down and brought his Wife and kids to our home to meet us. We had moved several times and lost track but he searched until he found us.
