hair?
I should get a cut rate.
I'm too lazy to go down the block and get a cut from my old friend, I cut my own, and I never get a tip.

Is the tip obligatory?

Is it a fixed amount?

Davelli0331: If a GNO, or alcohol, or an attractive coworker, or a past flame on FB were all that were needed for someone to cheat, then I think that person had that defect in their integrity all along. All they ever lacked was the opportunity to act on their lack of integrity and the circumstances required to rationalize it to themselves.

I pay around $180 every couple of months for a double-process color, cut and styling.

Not that I'm shocked, I found out what DW paid, years ago and has been regular, but the numbers still amaze me if I spend any time dwelling on it.

So I don't 🙂.

But, I pay 24 to 30.00 every three weeks. Depends on if getting a shave or not. That includes a tip. Takes about 45 minutes.

I'm thankful I found another good (really good) barber a couple of years ago. Imho it can be hard for a man to do.

I once had the same barber for 10 years, another 5 plus.

We don't have a lot of money. I go to an older lady who works in her house part time. It's $10 for a cut and I give her $15. She's very nice and is so happy for my business. We talk to each other the whole time and I really enjoy it. So works out perfectly for both of us. I'm not high maintenance or into all kinds of beauty things. Just a simple country girl.

Iím pretty simple too but I have natural curly hair so someone really has to know what theyíre doing.

I also have been greying since my 30s and it makes me look older than I feel. I do my own roots in between cuts so I donít feel so bad about spending the money since itís only 2 or 3 times a year. I REALLY feel better about it since reading this thread! lol

I love that!

I know a few coworkers who have found ladies that will do hair out of their homes for a lot cheaper... but they aren't taking new clients. (Just for friends/family)

I never used to get anything but a cut for about the same, but around 3 years ago I finally started getting color because I am going gray and I'm only in my 30s. I work in a professional setting where we are expected to look the part, and I was getting really self conscious about it. It's the only thing I do for myself and I still feel horribly guilty about spending the money. (Its why I only go every 6 months instead of more often. 6 months is when the gray really starts to show up again.)

I don't buy expensive clothes, no jewelry, no makeup, don't do my nails, don't buy anything for myself and I still spend the entire time I'm sitting in the salon chair beating myself up over it. I'm trying to get better about that!

Re: How much do you pay at the hairdresser's?

A friend of mine cuts my hair. She also does it out of her house. Her husband build her a salon. She gives me a very good deal. I spend about $80 for a cut and foil/color. She has her license and used to work in a salon. She does a good job and knows how I like it. I let her experiment on me and it always turns out well. She is up on all the latest trends and chemicals.

My hair looks like I spend much more than I do.

Iím the exact same. Iím a very feminine tomboy. Iíve spent maybe $200 on cuts and trims over the past decade! I always felt to do more would be vain or materialistic or some such nonsense. I still donít get cuts and coloring because I donít want to have to deal with maintenance but I recently treated myself to a tanning membership and absolutely love it! I feel with the money Iíve saved on beauty treatments over the years Iíve earned this bit of pampering. Still no mani or pedicures yet though lol!

$15AUD for No. 2 on the back and sides, with the hair on top being trimmed and tidied up a little.

My hair lady doesn't advertise and I got to her through our church.

I'm pretty outdoorsy and run and go to the gym so I keep it simple. It would look funny to be all the time in my outdoor gear and baseball hat and have perfectly coiffed hair. In my 20s so not gray yet!

I used to pay about $15 per cut before I started trimming my own.
